About The Band

Old Silkstone B Band is the only "training band" west of Barnsley and provides a family environment to help new starters, young and old, together with more experienced players learn a brass instrument. Instruments are individually tailored to suit mums, dads, brothers and sisters (we have them all) and all learn to play in the training band before moving up to the more experienced B Band. Instruments can be provided or you can bring your own.

A 'B' Band had existed prior to 2002, but had fallen to such low numbers that it almost disbanded, so Wayne Bostwick placed an advert in the local paper advertising for new players, this proved highly sucessful and the new Old Silkstone 'B' band was formed. Now 5 years on under the baton of Wayne, the band is making itself known to the local and surrounding areas of Barnsley and competing under its own right at local competitions.
