As part of the ‘B’ Band, Wayne also took it upon himself to start a training band. The aim of this band was to build younger and older members of the community, with no playing experience or very little, into players that would be able to play with the ‘B’ Band and fill in the empty chairs. At first the idea of this new band didn’t take off so well. However, due to some advertising and publicity provided by the ‘B’ Band, the training band soon saw the start of some new players.
As the ‘B’ Band started with its own local successes, Wayne started to find his hands full as he also has his own business. This therefore led to the training band needing someone to help teach the members. Daniel Jackson, the Solo Euphonium player with the ‘B’ Band offered his help most Sundays currently, so Daniel happily stepped up to take the position. So the training band has been run this way ever since.
Recently the running of the training band has been taken over by Wayne and a new batch of beginners are progressing under his expertise. We are now practicing before the 'B' Band on a Monday from 6:00pm to 6:30pm in the sports pavilion behind Silkstone Co-op garage.
Both parents and children are practicing hard and enjoy learning a new skill. If you’d like to learn a brass instrument or your son/daughter would, then click one of the links below.
